With its new TV advert, “Equality”, our premium partner Nike once again declares its support for equal rights. In the film, the brand highlights the fairness and respect that is shown in sports, and encourages people to transfer these aspects into everyday life. With top American athletes, like NBA stars LeBron James and Kevin Durant, tennis champion Serena Williams, professional footballer Megan Rapinoe, track & field athlete Dalilah Muhammad, gymnast Gabby Douglas and NFL pro Victor Cruz, Nike makes a statement about the importance of equal rights.
In America, as in the rest of the world, inequality mainly affects the non-white population, which is why Nike has decided to film the spot with mainly African-American athletes. In its efforts to achieve equality, Nike also recruited the help of charitable organisations Mentor and Peace Players. “We’ve always been committed to using the power of sport to advance equality — on the field and in life,” says Mark Parker, Chairman, President and CEO of Nike. “Our newest partners in PeacePlayers and MENTOR put this belief into action in meaningful and inspiring ways that make a real difference.”
Like Nike, we also believe that equality and mutual respect should be first priority but on and off the sports field. Be fair and nice to one another.
